Continue my family story With the help of my two sisters, my brother and I had a good chance to complete our primary school education. But when I was in the fifth year of primary school, my elder sister got married, which is a common matter in my hometown, because a 24—year-old girl was old enough to get married in the countryside at that time. Although I knew little about her due to the age gap, I still remember I was very upset when she left my family and lived together with a strange man. Then I did not understand why she had to leave me at all. I only cried and asked for her not to leave us, but at last she still went to another family.

It is much colder today. After breakfast, my husband and I took our baby by bike to buy a internet router for my teacher. The deal was quick and smooth, but when we were on our way back home, my son was sleepy and leaned on my right shoulder to sleep at last. I had no choice but let him to sleep without any disturbance. But I felt very tired and uncomfortable, one hand is needed to embrace my baby, and another to grasp the bike my husband riding. Although the 20-minites distance is not near, I am still happy to get together with my family. December 16 It is saturday again, I should be very happy, but I felt very upset because my husband quarreled with me last night. I think he accused me of not take care of our baby well----his hands felt cool out of quilt. I did not do it deliberately. But he didn’t think so. All is my fault? December 15 Today I only had one class due to absence of our teacher. In the oral English class, our foreign teacher asked me to answer a question, and this time I answered her question confidently. Yet it was exciting to me she adopted my answer as a topic to talk with other students. That adds me confidence to learn my oral English. I need to improve my oral English as quickly as possible. To communicate with others fluently is my dream. Work hard…….

Today I will continue to tell you my family story. After my elder sister got disease, my younger sister also had to give up her study in the followed year and worked in a city for a temporary job in order to support our family. Or else,my brother and I might not go to school because of financial problem. Later the health of my elder sister became better. That contributed to an old doctor who worked in our town hospital at that time. When she recovered from illness, happy smiles showed up on the faces of my parents. I clearly remembered at that night when the doctor told us that the disease of my elder sister has been cured completely, all members of family hugged together with exciting tears. That moment was the happiest one in the world.

Today is an unusual day. In the morning I suddenly heard an alarm from the remote place while we were in class. No one among us knows what sound it was. All of the students look like very surprised, but I found there is no special expression on our teacher’s face, he only looked at every one of us in surprise. Suddenly he said: ‘I feel ashamed for you. Who knows what day is today?” the student keep silent as if not hearing what he say at all. “Today in history was a tragic day,” he said again, “when 300,000 civilians in Nan Jing were killed by Japanese soldiers.” At once, all of the students in the class keep quieter and look like a child who done something wrong and are blamed by her/his teacher. In fact, I think every one in class has learned the massacre from history books in the middle school. Yes, it is said that 30, 0000 Nanjing civilians were killed in the fight. Later December 13 was named as a special day to commemorate those civilians who lost their lives.

Later she, my elder sister, was taken by my uncle to paint walls as a ordinary worker in a building company in which he always has worked. Having been too young, she only could do some small things with her effort and earned a little money. Unfortunately, after two years she has been diagosed to have kidney disease, so she had to give up her job and stay at home to treat her disease that made my parents more worrying about her health.

Although my parents were painstaking at that time, the poor condition of my family has not changed obviously, even if the more serious it was, the more grown-up the children were, because we four children need to go to school. In contrast nowadays, the tuition and fee then were fewer. But my father still was not able to afford the so ‘costly’ tuition and fee, so my elder sister had to give up the opportunity of furthering study since she graduated the middle high school. And she was still of age 16 at that time.

My childhood was not interesting to some extent due to various reasons. I was born in a very poor family in poverty-stricken areas of China – Dingxi Prefecture of Gansu Province, where it is so dry and windy all year round so that people there, especially farmers, are very industrious to strive for a better life. So I was being dedicated my role - to help endlessly my parent to do some trivial matters to go through the hard time. For instance, clean the house, feed the livestock, and purchase daily necessities in the town near my home. In fact, at that time I did not understand what poverty is at all. I only saw my parents were always busy with the activities of the farm from early to evening even if they sometimes forgot to have a meal. When my grandmother was till alive, she always shown enthusiastic to her son and law-in-daughter, and said “your parents are too tired to support this family. They are very nice, very great…..” After listening to her instrumental words, I always hurried up to send some food and water to my parents in the crop fields. I clearly remember when I was only five years old.
